Pregnancy is a lot. Your body is doing something extraordinary and doing it fast. The physical changes can place significant strain on the pelvis, lower back and hips. For many women that means pain, which is often dismissed as just part of pregnancy. If that's you, it's worth having it looked at.
Gentle Chiropractic care during pregnancy focuses on maintaining the movement of the pelvis and spine as your body changes. The aim is to keep joints moving and surrounding muscles from being overloaded, so you can stay as comfortable and active as possible.
It's about more than pain
Many women also want to feel strong and supported in their bodies as they approach birth. This isn't about putting pressure on yourself to do everything right. It's about having someone assess how you're moving and help you stay as comfortable and mobile as you can.
Common reasons women see us
Care across every trimester
Pregnancy changes week by week and so does our approach. What's appropriate in the first trimester differs from the third. We adapt each treatment to how you're feeling, how your body is responding and what suits your stage of pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different and your care is tailored to you.
Gentle and specific techniques
Care is designed to be comfortable and adapted to your pregnancy. We use the Webster Technique, a gentle Chiropractic approach that focuses on the movement and balance of the pelvis during pregnancy. We also draw on Spinning Babies principles, which look at movement, positioning and body balance in pregnancy.
Alongside this, we use gentle hands-on techniques, activator-assisted adjustments, soft tissue work and cranio-sacral therapy, selected based on how your body responds. There's no heavy pressure, no high-velocity adjustments and no positions that feel uncomfortable for your bump. Our treatment table accommodates your belly, so you can lie comfortably on your front during treatment. As with any health care, there are benefits and risks, and we're happy to talk them through before you decide.
